A LITTLE BIT ABOUT US...

Karen started up her company 16 years ago, after she found that her daughter, now teacher, Scarlett could not find a performing arts or dance class she enjoyed, everything was so grade focused, instead of teaching young people how to perform. So Karen decided to set up dance and musical theatre classes on week days.

COMPETITION CHAMPIONS...

We are a competitive company, who compete at the BIGGEST competitions in the UK, including STARPOWER, which for the last 5 years we have been awarded world dance invitations for. The last two years have been awarded world champion title beating THE WORLD!

TEACHING IN EDUCATION...

Karen is qualified to mark Btec dance & Performing arts and did so at St Bedes School, as well as running there dance company and many other classes.

Karen was asked by a pupil, from her dance school, to choreograph a dance for a talent show, at St Bedes School in Redhill, seeing her talent and love of teaching, Karen was asked to direct a Musical at St Bedes, which she decided to write herself, this allowed her to play to the strengths of the pupils she had, and not rule anyone out. Following on from that Karen decided to leave her job with a local theatre franchise and set up her own weekend school, she wanted to make sure she could cater for people who didnt have lots of money, No one should be ruled out of what they love doing because they cant afford it. So the Academy of performing arts was born. Karen also coaches Oakwood Allstars at Oakwood school.

THE ACADEMY OF PERFORMING ARTS...

The Academy started 10 years ago and is still going strong, The Academy is a performing arts Saturday school, offering a full day programme for a low fee, children from all different backgrounds get to take part in 3 Shows a year, as well as being offered the opportunity to audition for the dance team, have headshots taken, take part in drama festivals, perform in the Young Performers show in London's Westend,Theatre trips with backstage tours, charity shows and they are even able to get their Trinity exams. The school also offers a technical theatre course, in which you can learn how to use lights and sound, and take part in what goes on backstage.

CHEERLEADING...

As well as all this Karen is a qualified cheer instructor, she coaches 'KCA ALLSTARS' 'St Bedes Cheerleaders'and 'Oakwood Allstars' who are all award winning teams.

JUST TO FINISH OFF...

Karen and her wonderful team are always looking for new students, who have a love for the performing arts and who want to improve and learn new skills. We have a huge group of students who get accepted into full time performing arts schools, and end up working professionally as either performers, teachers or models.
